The following additional subscriptions have been received for the Canterbury War Fund:— Richmond Contingent (per Lawrence Pither) £1 Is 6d, Te Puke Guards (Cyril Hill, captain, and Sydney Cox, Bernie Hill, Bertie Hill, Bertie Cox, Charles Dann and Fred Tapling) £5 6s 3d, Kowai and Amberley Road districts '(fifth instalment) £3 lls Bd, collected by Violet and Connie Bird, Charles Bird, Doris and Phyllis Tribe, and R. Robinson, 8s; Irwell school children (per R. Wright) £1. The War Fund , Committee, while thanking the members of the several youthful contingents for their efforts, consider that they have now collected sufficient, and would not advise further action, on their part. The following letter has been received by the Mayor of Christchurch from Mr G. H. Swan, Majror di Napier : — " At a meeting of our committee, held last evening (Feb. 20), it was unanimously resolved that a letter be forwarded to your committee, thanking you all most heartily for the generous and hospitable manner in which your committee had treated the Hawkes .Bay section of the ; contingent, in providing for both men and horses, free of charge. I have also to thank your Worship on my own behalf for your kind attention and hospitality whilst in Christolmrch last week."
