* A painful accident happened at, Rangiora on Wednesday to Mr W. Bayne,' while working a reaper and binder, by which one of '■. J^thurnbs was broken and badly lacerated. Mr Robert Nyye, who wns admitted to the hospital on Jan. 25, suffering from a broken leg and crushed ribs, as the result of an accident at the Sumner quarry, died at the hospital at foui* o'clock yesterday afternoon. It will be remembered that at the . time of the accident Mr Noye, refusing to . follow the example of his mates in using a rope, overbalanced himself and fell. Dr Crooke, who made the post mortem, attributes death to congestion of the lungs. An inquest will be held to-day. Mr Nqye, who was a married man, resided on the Lincoln . Road.
