4. An ordinary meeting of- the committee of the Progressive Liberal . Association was held on Monday, in the rooms, Gloucester Street. A letter was received from the Department of Lands, pointing out that/under the Land for Settlements Act, the sale of land so purchased was impossible, and the Secretary was instructed to reply that the Association opposed the sale of any Crown land. The question of the subjects to be submitted to the conference of members was held over till the Lande, the Old Age Pensions and the Burnham Committees had met. Tbe conditions of the work hud wages obtaining among agricultural labourers were again brought up for discussion. Attention was drawn to the Premier's statement that it ~ras impossible to bring this class of labour under the operation of the labour laws, and ifc was urged thaifc the Association should agitate until those laws wero made to apply to that section of the workers. A lengthy discussion took place on the question of the inequality of parliamentary representation, owing to the concessions made to country districts. It was decided that the matter should be referred to a sub-committee. It was also decided that, at an early date, the Association should consider the question o£ charitable aid refann.
