THE PARLIAMENTARY LIBRARY.
Ic has been stated by a contemporary . (says the Wellington "tost") that "it is^ understood " that tlie new library wing of the Parliamentary Buildings "is not to be used for library purposes after all ;" that " nothing is to be done in the matter until after next session," and tlat the building is " by no means large enough for the purpose for which it was intended." These allegations are without foundation in fact. The wing is to be used for library purposes. The steel shelving was sent for to America as soon as ever specifications could be prepared, and the work of manufacturing it' has been pushed on with, such rapidity that the material will be shipped from the States during the present month. We are authoritatively informed that the library is 'sufficiently large to contain twice the prfesent number of books, and if future additions ' are based upon the extensions of the; past ten years, there will be ample roethi to shelve all present volumes and additions for the next sixty years.
