Yesterday afternoon a young lady was passing Victoria Water, and at the time was wheeling a two-year-old child in a gocart, to the front of which was affixed a large paper bag containing a. new hat. The wind caught the bag, which broke loose, and, with the hat, blew into the lake, where it sailed away like a model yacht. The young lady left the go-cart and waded into tne lake in chase of the hat, but 6he had not gone far when perambulator and child were blown into the lake too. The child was rescued by some of the committee of the Model Yacht Club, who also rescued the hat by means of a canoe The child was subsequently dried and attended to in the club's shed. It is, however, a very costly hobby, even the most ordinary hawks used for falconry costing as much as £100 apiece. They require most careful attention, and it is difficult to get men qualified to take charge of them under a salary of £200 a year. It is the most scientific and difficult of all sport* and differs in this from the others' that it can be followed in one form or another all the year round.
