(Received Dec. 7, 0.32 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Dec. 6. ' British troops at the battle of Modier River were almost maddened with Hirst, the water-carts being unable to ap>roach the zone of fire. Commandant Cronje considered the defences capable of withstanding the attack :or three weeks. Mr Labuschague, a prominent Afrikander member of the Natal Legislative Council, has been arrested on a charge of treason for joining the Boers at Estcourt. ' A number of Boer women visited the Boer lines at Ladysmith, and implored General Joubert to end the war.
