From a splendid start, Blunderer, on tho rails, was first away, followed by Egypt, Mora, Cocos, La Carabine and Kobold, with Sentinel last. This order was maintained passing the Btand. Blunderer led out of the straight, attended by Egypt, Promontory, Mora and Scorn. Racing along tho back stretch, Promontory ran up to Blunderer's quarters, and then came, four lengths away, Kobold, attended by Egpyt, Mora and Dirk HanAnerhand. Shortly afterwards, however, Blunderer fell back to third place, and at the five-furlong post Promontory was leading Kobald, with Dirk Hammerhand, Mora, Cocos, GaUleon and Merry "Pilgrim handy. Approaching the home turn the leaders fell back, and Scorn, Dewey, Gnullo and Cocos took charge. Coming round the bend together, closely pressed by Mora, La Carabine and Ballistite. Scorn led into the straight, but immediately fell away, leaving Gauleon and Dewey in front at the distanco post. A splendid race home ensued, and Dewey getting his head in front at the half distance, . won by three-quarters of a length, a length and a half between second and third. La Carabine was fourth, and then came Cocos, Mora, Cremorne, Sentinel, ' acorn, Dirk ±tammerhand and Surge,, with The Hock and Strathjoy last. Time — 2min 38isec. WIGUNA STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP, of 300 soys; second horse 50 soys and third horse 25 soys from the stake. About two miles three furlongs and eighty yards. Dewey is at 6 to 1, Scorn at 10 to 1, Gauleon at 11 to 1, and La- Carabine at 15 to 1.
