The House met at 11 a.m. . Mr Taylor's amendment in favour of a betterment system was rejected by 43 votes to 7.

Mr Seddon having replied, the House went into Committee of Supply for consideration of the Supplementary ' Estimates. Printing and stationery, £1000. Mr Taylor moved that the amount be reduced by ~0, as a protest against the extravagance in that Department. The debate was interrupted by the luncheon adjournment.
