A HABENS SCHOLARSHIP.
The Education Department has issued' a circular inviting subscriptions to a fund iof the establishment of a "Habens Scholarship," for the benefit of pupil-teachere of public schools. The circular saye: — "The scholarship, to be sufficient to meet the expenses of a University course, and at the same time to provide the scholar with the means of livelihood, should be of the value of about £60 a year for three years. Sueh 1 scholarship would be of national importance, and, since it is desirable that one' scholarship should be awarded every yeari the promoters entertain the hope that ___td-' mately afc least a provision will be made for three, each of which will require a capita] of £1500." .
