There are the gloomiest forebodings at Pretoria unless Great Britain retreats from the position taken up. The Afrikanders are keenly disappointed at the failure of their influence with the Boers. The young Boers are urging immediate hostilities. The First Battalion of Royal Fusiliers has arrived at Natal, also a battalion of the Manchester Regiment, with the medical corps despatched from Gibraltar.
