ENTERTAINMENTS.

The Rangiora Lodge of Sons and Daughters of Temperance held a successful social gathering at the Templar Hall on Monday. On Monday a "social"' was held by the Kaiapoi Masonic Lodge. The Lyttelton Choral Society gave its second subscription concert on Wednesday. The programme consisted chiefly of Cowen's " St John's Eve," in which the solos were taken by Miss Clark, Mesdames Gilmore ard Clow, and Messrs Collins and H'alley. The choruses were given with groat spirit, and the orchestra was very efficient, particularly in the selection from " Rosamimde " and " Licbesliedchen," which preceded the cantata. Mr E. U. Jusfc was conductor. .
