NATIONAL DAIRY ASSOCIATION.
[Per Press Association.] HAWERA, August 3. The National Dairy Association held its annual meeting to-day. The report stated that though the total quantities of dairy j produce exported show, especially in cheese, ' a considerable decrease as compared with 1897-8, yet this was due more to the exigencies of trade rather than to actual shrinkage in production. Reference was made to the shipping contract recently concluded for the regular fortnightly shipment of produce for three years. The receipts and expenditure practically balanced. Messrs J. G. Harkness, J. W. Foreman and Dive were elected to fill the vacancies on the executive. Tbe matter of a differential rate of subscription is to be considered by the executive and dealt -with next annual meeting. The question of a winter show at Wellington was discussed, but nothing -was done. In the afternoon, Mr Ruddick, chief dairy expert, and Mr MasEwan delivered- addresses.
