THE CHARGE AGAINST FOOTBALLERS.
-& . __ THE REV L. M. ISITT'S STATEMENTS. , [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, August 2. The Rev L. M. Isitt made reference tonight to his statements of the previous evening, regarding footballers. He said that he had been waited on by the manager of the Wellington team, who assured him all his men were absolutely sober and had nothing whatever to do with the incidents to which he (Mr Isitt) had made reference. When at Studholme he (Mr Isitt) asked some passengers if the men belonged to both teams. "Oh, yes,"; was the reply, " Look at the colours." The Qtago cap was dark blue and yellow, and the Wellington cap black and yellow. It appeared that some had exchanged caps as a mark of good fellowship. He accepted Mr. Galbraith's assurance, and he wished as clearly as possible to exonerate the members of the Wellington team. He regretted that they should have had the unpleasantness of being involved in the matter, but he did not withdraw one word as to the behaviour of some of the footballers in the, train. The Otago Union had asked him', for information, which he would willingly supply, as he was glad it was being taken up. Others were prepared to face the unpleasantness involved.
