MERIVALE v. ALBION.

Merivale kicked off against the wind, ancl Albion's attack was repulsed. The kicking of the Albion's backs forced fMenvale; twice in quick .succession. The Albion forwards charged a kick by Low, j and the "ban was taken over the line, and Moir scored. : Johnston converted with a good kick. The latter also made a very good attempt at goal from ■ a free kick. After some eveh'ptoy! Merivale gradually worked the ball into the Blacks? quarters,! and for a time Albion were on the defensive. Passing runs between Dansey, Woods and Menzies kept the Blacks busy, but they, eventually relieved the pressure, and play was , centred by a penalty kick. Forde^ getting the. ball from a scrum, passed to Carr, and passing between Butler, Lewis and; Machin ended in Machin scoring. Johnston again kicked a' goal? On resuming, Drake and Bush headed a rush to the Albion end, and Menzies made a dash, for the line, but was collared. Albion were twice forced, and Dansey , by a food kick, placed a goal from a penalty. .- i?'pllowing another fiee kick,the Meriva 7 ? forwards nished the ball over the Albion line, and Drake . scprea! and kicked a goal. A determined attach by .Low, Hales and King was repulsed, and Douglas led a rush to the centre. ? Albion was now playing a man short,; Lewis having t6 retire owing to an injiury to his nose, and, soon after, Marriner hud ' to leave the field through colliding with Menzies.
