CORRESPONDENCE.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE AND BOARD
OF EDUCATION ELECTIONS. TO im* EDTTOTI.
Sir, — In your report of the meeting on Thursday nisht in reference to the . above, Mr Lewis, M.H.R.. is reported to have said (speaking of the Education •■ Boards Election Bill introduced by the Hon W. Hall- Jones) — " Tho Bill introduced last session had been brought in somewhat late,, and had been, slaughtered in consequence." The 1898 session opened on June 24, and the second reading was passed on July 1. I pointed this out at the meeting. The Parliament was in session at the beginning of November. Therefore, Ido not see where the " somewhat late " comes in. At Mr Lewis's last address to the electors, I asked him his opinion about this Bill, and he said he did not know the Bill, and if the questioner would tell him the provisions of the Bill he would let him know his views.— l am, etc. D..> LUMSDE'N.
THE PRETTIEST WOMAN IN LONDON is said to ho Miss Clai-a D , a young lady belonging to a very old English family. She is shortly to appear — so rumour declares — at a "West End Theatre in a new comedy by one of our leading dramatists. She is very wealthy, and her only reason for going on the stago is that she is reluctant to keep hiddenaway any longer her genius aud beauty. . These gifts, of nature were meant for mankind, and it would he selfish to conceal them. Actuated by a similar motive, George Henry Camp writes tq say that he has been cured of his rheumatism by Holloway's Ointment; while by the use of Holloway's Pills he keeps himself healthy in mind and body. — (Advt.)
