The jevival: of Diploma Duy will tUfe year be marked" b>y special celbbrations at Canterbury College. At 3 ]j,n»- on Mon. day ihere will' be the formal public presentation of diplbmas by the C&an«ellor off the University (Sir- James Hector) 1 , in the College Hall. The speakers will be the. Hon C. C. Bowen and Professors Bickerton and" Wall: The- students have ; rehearsed 'a num~ ber of topical songs f dr the occasion. Inthe evening-, every department of the College wilt" be shown in irorking oreTer. Thei machinery , in the School of Ehgineeringwill be working, and" the power will beutilised to run a dynamo for elbctric lighting purposes. Lantern lectures will be given in the Chemical Theatre, and scientific and telegraphic apparatus will be shown in the great hall. A good musical programme has also been arranged. The afternoon ceremony will be carried out under the auspices of tins University, and the arrangements for the conversazione have been made by the Canterbury College Students' Association.
Few ladies in society can lay claim to so many ttffts as Lady Lindsay of Balcarres. She is a graceful poetess and song-writer, the authoress of several novels, a violinist, and composer of no mean repute, and as if these were not accomplishments enough, she has exhibited numerous paintings of flowers and still life at the Royal Institute of Pain.te.ra & -water.
