ENTERTAINMENTS.

On Wednesday evening an effective display was made at Kaiapoi in aid of the proposed bicycle track in. the park. Atmore gave " Qui Vive " and the " Bedouin Love Song " ; and Mr C. Read sang " I Dream of Thee'" and "In the Cathedral " ; Misses ' Cbrfick and Smith gave a vocal duet, and "'Mr Winter Hall contributed several recitations. The Fuller MyrionUna Company finished their season at the Theatre Royal last evening, when there "Was >a -very apprecia five audience. In' addition to a very good concert programme, a mnriber of interesting views were shown by the Maid of the lime° light. The annual' " social " arid "distribution of prizes in connection with' the Christchurch Amateur Rowing Club was held Last even•ng in the rooms of the Caledonian Societv. •here wns a large attendance, and Mr A. W Beaven (president) occupied the chair. The prizes were distributed as follows :— Mr R F.vCrosbie, Senior Double Sculls, Akaroa, Lyttelton and Little River regattas ; Senior Pair-O ar, Little River Yregatta ; Single "omillss, Lyttelton regatta. Mr C. Neil, Senior Double Sculls, Akaroa, Little River and Lyttelton regattas ; Senior Pair Oar, Lyttelton and Little River regattas; Senior Pair Oar, Little River. Club racesTrial Double Sculls, H. A vocal and instrumental programme was rendered by Misses F. Triggs, B. M'Kenzie, M. M'Cahon, Clarke and Gibbs, Messrs T. H Harker, W. Barlow, F. Collins andH. M. Johnson. Messrs C. Neill and A. H. Jewiss gave an exhibition of fancy club swinging- The floor was afterwards cleared for » dance. At the Methodist Church, Horrellville, on Wednesday evening, a well-attended gathering took place, to welcome the Rev B. H. Ginger and family to the district. The chair was occupied by Mi" A. D. Hassall. Addresses were given by Messrs J. Waiting, S. Horrell, F. G. Horrell and the Chairman, and Mr Ginger replied. Several selections were rendered by the choir, under Mr A. -Graham. A number of vocal items were given by the Misses Woodfield (2), Truose, Mrs Ginger, Mrs E. Woodfield and the Rev B. H. Ginger.
