Out of 480 instalments of old age pensions payable in Christchurch, yesterday 404 were applied for. It is a great convenience to the Postal authorities if pensioners appear on ttoe first day of each month for their instalments, as special arrangements are made for their payment on that day, and the ordinary money^rder. office -work is not interfered with. The payments were mode yesterday at the Chamber of Commerce Hall, where there is ample room, and where chairs . iareiprovided for the. p.ld people to sit on .. •whilst signing, their rt^ipti -.
