MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

A meeting of the Women's Political Association was held last evening in the Metaphysical Club's rooms at Hobbs's Buildings. There v/as a very good attendance of membeis, and several important subjects were brought up for discussion. It was announced that Mv Collins's third address under the Association's auspices will be given next 'Monday in the Assembly Room, Hobbs's Buildings. The Oddfellows of Cheviot opened a Past Grands Lodge at M'Kenzie on May 22, and four past officers received the purple degree. The Lodge was named "The Victoria," and the following officers were" elected: — President, P.P.G.M. Bro G. Crampton; deputy, P.G. Bro T. Meikle ; secretary, P.G. Bro R. R. Lochhead. The Secretary was instructed to procure the necessary books and cards for the officers, and the meeting closed. •The half-yearly meeting of the Bud of Hope Lodge of Druids, Rangiora, was held on Monday evening. The attendance was moderate. Nominations were received for all offices except the A.D.'s chair, which was held over till next meeting. The committee of the anniversary "social" reported that arrangements had been made for the gathering. One candidate was proposed for membership. At the halfyearly meeting of the Juvenile Lodge, there was a good attendance. Three candidates 1 were initiated into the Order, and two candidates were proposed for membership. ! A meeting of the committee of the Can- '' terbury Rose Society -was held at the * Horticultural Society's rooms on Monday > evening ; nresent — Hon E. C. J. Stevens 1 (chairman), Messrs B. Nairn. E. AV. Leigh--5 ton, W. Jones, A. C. Murray-Aynsley, J. Guntrip, T. Abbott and R. M. Donaldson (honorary secretary). The schedule of prizes for the December show -was drawn up, and it was decided to divide the amateur exhibitors into two classes— Class A, those who emplov assistance in their gardens, and Class B, those who do not eni--1 ploy assistance. Exhibitors under Class B ,' may compete with those in Class A, but g Class A may not compete with Class B. A large number of special prizes were ' received. The. Secretary was- instructed to •)■ get the prize list printed, and to call a - meeting to revise it.
