The police have" not heen able- to • find any trace of a man missing from Ellerslie, Bernard M'Donald, a labourer, who is said to have . been at the Takapuna races on Saturday. He was last seen in' Lower Queen Street, near the wharf. • At the Police Court tne girl Alma OlgaHansen was again brought up. She had been remanded from yesterday for further medical examination as to her sanity. Dr Sharman, police surgeon, said that he considered the girl sane. The girl when questioned said that' she had been an inmateof the Wellington Lunatic Asylum for three months about a year ago. Mr Hutchison, S.M., said that the girl did not belong. 'to Auckland. He would order her back to her father at Wellington, who , was liable for her maintenance, the police there to be informed of the circumstances. The first sign of an .Austrian invasion of the Upper Thames mining fields occurred to-day, when twelve Austrians passed through Paeroa for Waihi. They have obtained employment on one of the coal leases recently acquired there. .
