[Per Pbess Association.] '! DUNEDIN,. May 15. ,"A trial, of fire escapes was held to-day for n, prize offered by the Licensed Victuallers' Association. ' Four were exhibited, including that of Mr J. Hutcheson," M.H.R. Three were wire ladder , escapes, and the fourth was the patent rope escape, of. M. Brown. After the ' trial the committee of the Association resolved to adopt Mr' Christian's "wire- ladder, provided it is approved by the municipal,' police and licensing authorities. . \\y At Milton to-day a charge of having set fire to a hut at Taieri Mouth preferred against* an old woman named Campbell,, was dismissed. ' '
