Mooney'.was charged with having wilfully trespassed on the North Caixterbury racecourse on May 4,- and refused to. leave when ordered td do so. Mr Helriiore, for 'the secretary of the Jfockey Club, conducted the pro-' sccution, and Mr Johnston appeared for the defendant, who pleaded not" guilty. Counsel for the defence admitted all formal evidence, but endeavoured to show that his client did not trespass oh the course proper. The Bench could not see any reason why the case should be treated differently to those heard the previous Court day ; and defendant having been previously convicted, was fined £3 and costs £1 2s 7d, in default fourteen days" imprisonment, a fortnight being allowed in which to pay the fine. — On a similar charge, F. Franklin, W. Draper, and Richard Chamberlain, against whom there were previous convictions, were each fined £3 and costs £1 2s 7d. in default fourteen days ; and Thomas Butler arid T. Watson, who had not previously been before the Court, were eacli fined £2 and costs £1 2s 7d, in default fourteen days. AH ths accused pleaded guilty. :nd. exceptfng Franklin, were allowed time to pay tie fines. Givn- Case.— W. Meech v. A. Capill clhim £2 17s, judgment summons. An order was made for the payment of 10s per week, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
