An adjourned general meeting of the Christchurch Athletic Club .v ill beheld in tne Clarendon Hotel to-night at' eight o'clock. Representatives of the St Albans Borough Council and the Drainage Board will meet in Edgeware Road to-morrow, afternoon to determine where the new drain is to be laid. , Messrs W> Jonps, A, P. 0' Callaghan, W. J. Ruau, T. E. Taylor, M.H.R., and Captain Coleman were among the passengers who left for the south by this morning's express; The Victorian Commissioners, accompained by Mr J. E. March, superintendent of village settlements, this morning visited the Draco and Otarakaro settlements at Riccartoon and Fendaiton. This evening they leave for Wellington. There was an attendance of some fifty members at the korero of the Christchurch Savape Club, 'which was held last night in the hall of the Chamber of Commerce. Lieutenant-Colonel Gordon, presided, and a very, enjoyable evening was spent. As showing the increasing interest taken in the growth: of chrysanthemums, it may be mentioned that the Dunedin Show, which will commence to-morrow, is the fiftythird chrysanthemum show held in New Zealand during the present year. In 1892 there were only seven recorded chrysanthemum shows held in this colony. The .sub-committee, of the Canterbury Rowing Club, appointed to carry out arrangements for the dance on May 26, met last evening. It was .decided to engage Miss Scrivenor's band; and the catering will be. . in the hands of Mr J. Buggey. A nrivate letter received! by a Christchurch gentleman from Waiau, states' that Creed's mail coach started from Waiau to Culverden on Saturday mornintr. but after getting through the Wandall Bush, the driver thought it advisable to turn back.
