PRESENTATIONS.

- At Ohoka on May 4 the vicar of St Alban 's Church, on behalf of the parishioners, presented Mr T. H. Baker with a handsome butter dish and knife on the occasion of his approaching marriage as a token of their gratitude for his services. On. Saturday afternoon the members of the " Lyttelton Times " and " Star " companionships met at the Shades J_otel to present Mr A. Currie' with a handsomely framed and illuminated address, on the occasion of his severing his connection with the office. The address was as follows: — " To A. Currie, Esq. — Dear Sir, — The companionship desire to express their regret that you have severed your connection with the office, and to convey to you their appreciation of the many kindnesses the members of the chapel received during the many years you were overseer of tha ' Times,' and wish you every success and prosperity in. the future." The address was signed by the representative members of the companionships. Several toasts were proposed and honoured. At a social gathering in the Ashburton Orange Hall on Friday evening, presided ever by the Mayor, Mr G. A. Simmers, M.A.. head master of the Ashburton High School, was presented by past ahd present pupils with a handsome "secretary" stud*, desk, an armchair, and a travelling bag. Addresses were deliveied by his Worship and by the Rev G-. B. Inglis, Messrs Andrew Orr and SaJmond.
