MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The fortnightly meeting of the Children's Aid Society was held on Thursday ; present— Mesdames Henderson, Lissaman, Black, Isitt, Bendely, Blake, Sister Marion and Misses Henderson and Ross and Mr Blank. A letter was received from the Canterbury Women's Institute, asking' the Society to send two delegates to a meeting .to.- be held shortly for the purpose of discussing industrial and reformatory schoolß. Mrs Henderson and Mr Hoare were appointed delegates. „ Mr. Blank reported that, he had received eight shillings from the Woolston school, being money accruing from fines for non-attendance, and had handed it over te the Secretary to be spent on books and school material for those children in the Woolston district who were unable to procure them for themselves. It was decided to write to the chairmen of the new school committees asking that- the same might be done by all the schools, the money in each case to be spent for the benefit of that district from which the fines came.

The monthly .meeting of the Canterbury Christian Endeavour. Union was held oh Thursday evening. Mr Hayward *was in the chair. The Sabbath Observance Committee reported that good progress had. been made, and that it was proposed to hold an open air meeting in Cathedral Square on a Saturday night. The Camp Meeting Committee also presented a satisfactory report. It "was stated that the work of the Chinese mission on the West Coast was still being carried oh with satisfactory results, hut a new catechist had not yet been obtained. Tlie report from the Lookout Committee, which was adopted, stated that the members had visited two societies. Arrangements for the rally to be held in the' Sydenham Church on Monday, April 2 . were completed, Miss Lowe having consented to read a paper on "The Ideal Endeavourer," and the Rev J. J. Doke to trive an address.
