ffHE MELBOURNE DEMONSTRATION. STRIKE OF WEAVERS. ! United Press Association— By Electric .' Telegraph— Copyright MELBOURNE, April 21. Eight Hours Day was observed in the nsual manner. Two hundred weavers at the Ballarat woollen mill struck work because they were refused a holiday to-day. The reason given for the refusal was the rush of work, but the men offered to work ' all Saturday to make up. The directors 'state that they will fill the places of the .men on strike with new men, and will take none of the strikers back.
