CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, Atom, 22. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M.) Maintenance.— John WHlhm Metcalf was charged, on remand from Dunedin, With faihng to provide for fhe ssaintenance of his wife. After bearing evidence the Magistrate adjourned the case for a fortnight, to give the defendant an opportunity of carrying out his promise of supporting his wife. At tho same time, he warned him that .something serious would happen if at tho end of the fortnight there was a bad report of him. Half of the money found on the defendant when arrested his Worship directed, to be handed over to the wife to meet her immediate requirements.
