Following the decision of the Arbitration Ccnrt, which sat here on Saturday to inquire into an alleged breach of the award of the Conciliation Board by the Consolidated, Limited, and Progress* mines of NewZealand, in respect of rock drill-men's Mages, which were fixed at 10s, but some of the men ha\-e since been paid 9s 6d, the defendants were fined £25, and ordered to pay 10s. 'In .the ca,9e 'of engine-drivers, several of these were paid 10s instead of lis 8d as fixed by the Board. The defendants were fined fil, -and wages of lis 8d were ordered to be paid in future. The Court decided not to interfere with the employment of certain hands for twelve hours on Sunday, as a permit to employ them h.-vd been obtained for work which the evidence showed io be necessary ; nor was the Court satisfied that there had been discrimination as against Unionists in the matter of employment.
