A COLLISION.
The steamer Derwent collided with the Mahinapua, lying at the Queen's Wharf, and the latter was considerably damaged. Her starboard main gangway was carried away, her bulwarks -were cut through, and her plates below the water-line were doubled. She is making a lot of. water, and will have to be docked for repairs. The Maninapua was about to leave for Strahah, and had a large number of passengers aboard. Many of them rushed the gangways, and the captain led much difficulty in reassuring them. MANSLAUGHTER. -fallen M'Nab has been sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for the manslaughter of an infant at Pootscray. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FINANCE. ADELAIDE, Dec. 16. In the Legislative Assembly, the Treasurer, in a, supplementary speech, -said that he expected a 5 to 6 bushel per acre wheat harvest. Owing to the diminished revenue, it was proposed to reduce the income tax exemption from £200 to £150. Ttj is intended to make the abolition of the exemption on larger incomes permanent.
