[Per Frfss Association.] WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. The unemployed assisted by the Depcirtment of Labour last month in all parts of the colony numbered 159. The number of men employed on co-operative- works last month was 3242. A conference ofToresters is to be held in Wellinbton shortly, to take into consideration the bearing wmch the Old Age Pensions Act has on Friendly Societies generally, with a view to future action if considered necessary. The General Manager of the National Bank of New Zealand has received a cable message from London intimating that the Board of Directors has declared an interim dividend for the half^ear at the rate of 6 j per cent per annum.
