BOROUGH COUNCIL.

NEW BRIGHTON. At a meeting held on Dec. 13 it was stated that there was a probability of a large swimming bath being erected, and Councillors Owles and Winny were appointed to con/fer with the members of the swimming clubs. The Council was of opinion that the present delivery of mails, etc., as to time, was she most convenient. Councillor Marshall reported on the business done relative to the Samaritan Home. The Clerk wai> justructed to sue for all outstanding ra'-es for 1897-8. An influential deputation presented a petition for a resident constable, and asked the Council to assist in the matter. His Worship promised to use his best endeavours to obtain the wish of the petitioners. A special meeting was held on Doc. 15 to contirm the resolution as to by-laws, and the seal of the Council was affixed to bylaws to come into operation on Dec. 24.
