WOOL SALES.
I The second of the present series of local ; wool sales, opened at the Chamber of Commerce Hall, this morning. Although the ■ catalogue contained close upon 5500 hales, a > great many of the lots had not reached the wool stores, and, therefore, were not offered. All the loreign and local burers. were present. For the most part the wool is in poor condition, and the bulk 'of the catalogue consists of farmers' clips, the late wet weather having interfered considerably with shearing operations in the back country, and the absence of well-known station clips winch generally come forward at this sale was very noticeable. There was a keen demand for any good parcels of merino, and the finer luilf-breds'.also met a fair side, but .cross-breds and anything that was not really good was neglected. Up to the luncheon adjournment, Imlf-breds hud readied 7?. d cross-breds 7d, and merinoes 7*d, the highest for longwools being 5Ad while «P to 6^l was given for pieces. Durinsr the afternoon 8d per 1b was readied for merino wool.
