ASHBURTON RACING CLUB.
A special general meeting of the Ashburton Racing Club was held on Saturday evening, when Mr S. H. Graves, who had gone to Wellington to interview the Colonial . Secretary regarding totalisator permits, reported the result of his consultation with Mr Carroll. Mr Graves stated that the Colonial Secretary had said that the club would at all events receive one totalisator permit, and that' he was in communication with the Chairman of the Racing Conference in regard thereto. There was no -discussion on the report, the meeting being adjourned out of .respect to the memory of Dr Leahy, who had died that afternoon.
