A SYDNEY SENSATION.
EPISODE IN PITT STREET. HORSEWHIP AND REVOLVER. United Press Association — By Electrio Telegraph — Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept. 21. Mr Meagher, a member of the Legislative Assembly, incensed by comments in "Truth" newspaper, -waylaid Mr Norton, the proprietor, in Pitt Street, and attacked him with a horsewhip. The thoroughfare was crowded at the time. Norton drew a revolver, whereupon Meagher made off, and an exciting race followed. Norton, dodging | the crowd and watching his opportunity, fired at Meagher, but missed him. The number of people hindered Norton's movements and Meagher esoaped. Norton was arrested and remanded. He was bailed, and immediately issued a warrant for the arrest of Meagher, who surrendered himself, and was also bailed.
