SIR GEORGE GREY AND THE LAND LAWS.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. In the course of a public address delivered to-night by Mr George Fowlds, president of the New Zealand Single Tax League, who returned to the colony by the Gothic yesterday, the speaker referred to Sir Geoi-ge Grey as li a veteran fighter in' the' cause of freedom." The measure of land reform carried since the advent to power of the Liberal Party was largely due to the stirring speeches made by the deceased statesman throughout the colony. Mr IWlds added tli.it Sir George, until liis departure from England, held the position of honorary president, of the Single Tax League, and had liberally supported the movement in a financial sense.
