OBITUARY.
DEATH AT SEA. ' HERBERT SAMUEL HARRIS, United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept. 21. During the passage of the Wakatipu from Wellington to Sydney, Mr Herbert Samuel Harris, a passenger from Christchurch to London, died. (Mr H. S. Harris, the news of whose death was received-by cable this morning, was born in Devonshire, and gained a thorough experience of the butchering business in London. He came to Christchurch. gome eighteen years ago, where he followed iis old trade, and had been a most successful master butcher for the past eleven years. Some ten years ago he married Miss Julia Searle, who, with one son, survives him. The late Mr Harris was a prominent Mason, and was for several years W.M. of the Conyers Lodge. Genial, and with a kind word for everyone, he had hosts of friends in Christchurch, who will hear of his decease with deep regret. At the time of his death Mr Harris was with his wife and son on board the Wakatipu, bound for Sydney, en route to London, where he intended to open a shop. A private cablegram received in town this morning states that Mrs Harris and her son will return immediately to Christchurch, bringing the body with them for burial here.)
