In accorcVanee with a resolution passed at the meeting held the previous week, the President reported having forwarded to the Premier a letter urging the desirableness of agricultural education for the people. A long discussion to:>k place on the Shops and Shop Assistaut Acts, and various proposed amonduients wero subjected to i keen criticism, which will be continued at a future meeting, Mr W. W. Collins wrote, promising to address the Association next Tuesday evening on " New Zealand's Progress under Liberal Administration." The monthly meeting of the Belfast Band ©.Hope was held in the Wesleyan Church on Wednesday evening. The Rev W. Grigg occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance. Songs were sung by Miss N. Gimblett and Mrs Grigg, and a violin solo was given by 1 Miss Parkin. Recitations were contributed by . several members. Three dialogues were rendered by Misses Craig (2), Nisbet (2), Pepperell (2), Gimblett, Wakeham, Tipler, Longman (3) aud Richards, and Messrs Tipler, K Longman, Johns, Leathwick and Storer. Mis 3 Baker presided at the organ and played the accompaniments. i A meeting of the Council of the National [ Association was held at the rooms on Wednesday evening, when there was a fall attendance of Councillors. .
