The promoter of the concert to be held in the Oddfellows' Hall this evening is unusually solicitous as to the pockets and feelings of the representatives of the Press. In a note to the editor of this journal, he writes : — " I enclose invitations for our concert to-morrow evening. I do not know whether you will send a representative, but, in case you should, I enclose ls for collection money for reporter. I hope you will not be offended at my action. I simply send it because I think it mean to invite a reporter and then let him feel that he is expected to give something." The shilling has been returned to the writer, as the reporter would probably rather disappoint those who expect him to subscribe " something " than make an unwonted display of liberality ia the way suggested.
