ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
• ....". [Per Press Associatioisv] •■' ;; DUNLIN, Sept: 1. Robert Kinloch, sixty-six years of age, was found dead in a paddock near his house <tt Table Hill yesterday. He was out cutting firewood when lasti seen alive. Death is supposed to be due to some natural cause. A little girl, ageidi about nine years, the daughter of Mrs Brown, Ashburton, was burned to death on Wednesday night. Tiie girl, who had been left in charge of the house and some younger children, was attempting to lift some cooking utensil off the fire, when the flames caught her cotton dress. She tried to extinguish the flames by. rolling herself on some bags, but these also caught on fire. This failing she rushed, with her clothes blazing, to the house of a neighbour, Mrs Stills, who put out the flames. Dr Hunter was soon in attendance, but the child's injuries were so severe that she died within a few hours. An inquest will he held to-day".
