FOOTBALL.
m INTER-SCHOOLS MATCH. The annual football match between teams representing the St Patrick's College, Wellington, and the Boys' High School, Christchurch, took place yesterday afternoon at the North Park. The Wellington boys arvried by the Rotomahana in the morninnafter ti very smooth trip, and were little the worse for their journey. The weather was dull, but warm, and tho ground was in good order. There was an attendance of about 2000, including many ladies. Playing with a strong north-west breeze in the firstspell, the Wellington boys managed to maintain the upper hand, and M'Evedy scored a try, which was not converted, and kicked a penalty goal. There were some excellent forward tushes, in 'which Pinlay and Park were prominent tor the Wellington boys, and Pyne and P. Byrne were noticeable for defensive work. In the second spell Byrne, Martin and Pyne were prominent in "gocd passing rushes, from one of which Byrne scored a try for .the Boys' High School. Gibbs kicked a gocd goal. Mitai and Yenning stopped a number of dangerous rushes, and Fitzpatrick and O'Malley gained considerable ground by their kicking. The visitors' forwards had the advantage in weight, and with a sca-ies of loose forward rushes managed to keep their lines clear till the end of the game. Tho final score was : St Patrick's College, one try and one penalty goal (six points), to. one goal from a .try (five points). Mr J. U. Collins was referee.* The St Patrick's College team will play at Leeston on Monday. A football match was played on the Addington Reserve yesterday between the Addington and Spreydon Schools, and resulted in a win for the former by thirty-three, points to nil.
