At a meeting of eighteen firms engaged in the importation of frozen lamb it was resolved to hold out for 2^d for best Canterbury from Monday next.
[The price of 2f d is obviously an error. From the nature of cablegrams received in Christchurch during the last few days referring to this meeting it appears certain that the price fixed upon is 4|d.]

Mr C. E. Valentyne, lecturing before the Society of Arts, predicted a great future for Queensland and New South Wales meat extracts, but complained of the deterioration of some recent shipments.
The wool market is very firm. Medium to inferior merinos are lower, but crossbreds are tending upwards.
