PRESENTATIONS.
At Belfast on Thursday a travelling bag ■was presented to Mr Thos. Jones, on the occasion of" his leaving the service of Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. Mr Jones briefly thanked his fellow-employes for the gift, and the health of the recipient having been drunk, the proceedings were brought to a close.
Our Waiau correspondent writes as follows :— Mr W. T. Burnip, who is leaving Waiau to take possession of the Terminus Hotel, Oxford, was given an enthusiastic "send-off" at Whittle's Hotel on Wednesday night. There was a large gathering of friends from different parts of the district. Mr George Clare, as chairman, on behalf of a number of friend^ presented Mr Burnip with a set of carvers, suitably inscribed, and referred to Mr Burnip's good qualities, wishing him prosperity and happiness in his new home. Mr Burnip briefly replied. A number of songs were sung during the evening. A vote of thanks to the pianist and the singing of " Auld Lang Syne " brought the proceedings to a close.
