CATHOLIC SPORTS AT RICCARTON.

At 9.30 yesterday morning the children from St Mary's and the Barbadoes Street Catholic Schools met in Barbadoes Street, and, headed by the Stanmore Band and marshalled by Messrs M'Cormack, M'Aclam and Fox, marched to the railway station, whence they were taken to the Eiccarton racecourse by train. By 2 p.m. considerably over 2000 people had assembled on the ground, and the various amusements provided were well patronised. The wants of the children were well looked after, and races, under the supervision of the Eev Father Marnane, Messrs J. C. Cnsack, Fox and M'Cormiek, were entered into with zest. A programme of sports was held in the afternoon, and the following were the results :— ALTAR BOYS' RACE— H. Mills, 1; TC. Dela. hunty, 2. .... . . ST PATRICK'S HANDICAP— Frst heat, lOOyds : J. W.
