CHRISTCHURCH BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
Mr H. J. C. Jekyll, the honorary treasurer of the Christchurch Beautifying Association, writes as follows.— "At the last meeting of the Cluistcluiroh Beautifying Association, held on March 8, the following motion was passed :■—' That the daily papers be asked to open a special subscription list for the purpose of raising funds to defray the cost of planting and beautifying the mill island.' Knowing that you are always willing to assist in furthering any undertaking which is for the benelit of tho community, may I ask if you will kindly consent to carry out the wishes of the committee as expressed in the above motion P I enclose a list of those who have already subscribed."
