CHRISTCHUKCH CLUB'S SPORTS.
The Christchurch Club held its eighteenth annual sports meeting in the West Christchurch School bath on Saturday. There was only a moderate attendance owing to the threatening aspect of the weather. The most noticeable feature of the programme was the number of scratchings in the majority of the events. In the Inter-club Handicap, which received forty entries, there were seventeen non-starters. Two members of the Australian team — Percy Cavill aud F. Lane —competed in the Inter-club Handicap. The former, with several other swimmers, also gave an exhibition of fancy diving. The competition consists of a series of four distances, viz., 25, 100, 75 and 50yds, the winner ef each event to score four points, the second three points, third two points, and fourth one point; the winner to receive a gold medal value _2 2s, presented by the Canterbury Swimming Association.
