WORKMEN'S VILLAGE SETTLEMENTS.
Several important amendments, which were urged upon the attention of the Minister of Lands during last session of Parliament by Mr W. W. Tanner, have been effected in the conditions to be observed by applicants for allotments in workmen's village settlements. They increase the amount of property that may be owned by applicants to .£3OO, and soremove one of the principal obstacles to the speedy and effective settlement of the land. The new conditions will be applied to the Pawaho village at Heathcote, and will doubtless lead to a keen demand for that settlement.
