CHARGE OF MURDER.

[Pbb Pbess Association.! AUCKLAND, March 11. Hemrich Po_len,cbarged at the Supreme Court with the murder of Patrick Corcoran at Harapepe on Nov. 12, pleaded not guilty. Terence Corcoran, son of the deceased, deposed that he and bis father were withdrawing posts inserted by John Pohlen, son of the' accused, ' atad putting in other posts on" the disputed boundary, when the accused came up with a gun, said something about Queen Victoria, and shot Patrick Corcoran,' who' died almost instantly. Ho admitted . that there had been bad feeling between the families for some time concerning the land in dispute. Tho defence was that the accused was not of sound mind, and for some time had not been responsible for his actions. ■ i The jury returned a. verdict of "Not guilty," on the ground of .- insanity. Mr Justice Conolly committed the prisoner to the asylum, -pending the pleasure of the Colonial Secretary.
