THE KLONDYKE PARTY.
A GOOD SEND-OFF. The No, 3 wharf at Lyttelton presented a scene of more than usual animation last night on the occasion of the departure of the Union Steamship Company's steamer Tarawera. Amongst her passengers were Messrs H. N. Hiskins, IV. Sinclair, T. Roger and G. Cropp, who are en route for the Klondyke goldfields. The three i former have resided at Lyttelton for a i considerable time, and have made a wide i cirole of f rienda, while Mr Cropp, a resident of Linwood, is also a well-known personage. The wharf was crowded with • friends anxious to wish ono or more of i tho party good-bye, and just as the steamer commenced to slowly steam away ; from the wharf the crowd heartily joined in ! singing the first verse of the song , " Comrades," a selection whioh was highly , appropriate to the occasion. Hearty cheers , followed, and then the company again • hroke into melody, the song this time • 'J 61 "" ." Sa y An Revoir, but not Good-bye." ■ »y tms time the steamer was about clear , ot the wharf, and the remaining few , minutes were spent in cheers and hastily ojaculated good wishes.
