Friday, March 11. (Before Mr W. H. Cooper, J.P., and Mr F. Hobbs, J.P.) Keeping a Brothel. — Thomas Moor was charged with keeping a brothel in Travers Street, Linwood. Mr Donnelly appeared for the defendant, who pleaded notguilty. After hearing the case the Bench dismissed it on the ground of insufficient evidence. Breaches op City By-Laws. — For riding a bicycle on the footpath Joseph A. Barnes was fined 5s and costs 7s.—Donald Lowdon and Ernest Pearce were each fined ss, and costs 7s, for driving vehicles at night without displaying two" lights. — Isaiah D. Davis, for obstructing, the. public thoroughfare with boxes and goods,' was fined 5s and costs. ' - Prohibition Order. —An application for a prohibition order against a man who did not appear was refused, on the'ground of insufficient corroborative evidence.—A similar application was adjourned until March 18 to enable the applicant to produce witnesses.
