RHODES CONVALESCENT HOME.

The monthly meeting of the committee was held on Tuesday ; present — Messrs R. • Heaton Ehodes (chairman), A. Carrick, J. Embling, W. E. Mitchell, W. D. Wood and the honorary Secretary. The report showed that during the past month 29 patients had been received and 33 had left the Home, and that there were 12 remaining. The daily average had been 18*8, as against 14*28 in the corresponding month of last year. The rainfall for the month had been 2*oß inches, and rain fell on eleven days. The highest reading of the maximum thermometer was 75, and the maximum mean 63*60 ; the lowest reading | of the minimum thermometer was 39 and the inininuni mean 49*64. The Secretary laid before the meeting the draft annual report and balance-sheet, which was ordered to be printed, and the date of the annual meeting of contributors was fixed for Tuesday, March 15. The Secretary reported that it had been found necessary to put down the rods to. clean out the artesian well, which, like all artesian wells, had been affected by the drought as well as the furring up of the pipes by rust, and a much stronger flow of water resulted.
